Getting into the journalism industry as a current student!
Welcome to ‘How I Got Here’: a content series brought to you by Vamos Insights. We will be featuring inspiring students and young professionals across a broad range of industries, who will each share their career journey and provide insightful advice to help you navigate the big wide world of work.
Introducing our guest, Eve Bennett!
My name is Eve Bennett, and I’m a university student at the University of Oxford, where I study German and Spanish. I’m currently on what’s supposed to be my year abroad so I’m not at Oxford this year, but I’m also not abroad — you can probably guess why! I’m also a Youtuber, so I make videos about studying or (at the moment) lack of studying, student life and career tips. I’ve got around 230,000-ish subscribers the last time I checked. I’m also the founder of the Meridian Magazine, which is a magazine for young people where they can test the journalistic waters by writing about issues that they’re passionate about. More recently, I present the morning show on Black Country Radio as well as the politics show on Saturdays.
Wow, you’re really doing a little bit of everything at the moment! Why did you choose your degree subject? Were the reasons linked to your career aspirations at the time?
